Violetta Vieux is a fashion designer who draws on her extensive knowledge of couture craftsmanship and a natural ability to mix materials and textures to create distinctive and dramatic designs. She employs a wide array of textile embellishment techniques such as knit, crochet, embroidery, weaving, bobbin lace, Romanian point lace, beading, sewing, draping, and pattern making.
Violetta fell in love with fashion when her grandmother taught her how to crochet at the age of six. She quickly realized that fashion was her true passion and she began to expand her interests to include crocheting clothing.
She later attained a Master’s Degree in Creative Draping and Pattern making at the École Supérieure des Arts et Techniques de la Mode in Paris (ESMOD), and acquired experience in working with precious fabrics and materials through internships at various couture houses in Paris including Dupré-Santabarbara, Lefranc-Ferrant, Baghère and more.
Violetta used to be draping and pattern-drafting instructor at FIDM in San Francisco, while working and free-lance pattern maker and sampler for various designers in the bay area. She is currently the owner of her brand VioGemini, that creates and produces bridal gowns and wedding accessories.
Her desire to share her knowledge and skills with others is the reason why she is now offering private classes for sewing, pattern-drafting and draping.
